Salt Creek is a really fun fiddle tune with a pretty simple melody. It’s a Mixolydian tune, hence the motion from the Tonic chord (G) to the flat-seventh chord (F). I like this arrangement because it gave me a chance to blend some Scruggs stuff with some Bill Keith style melodic runs.
As you are working through it start slow and make sure to articulate the hammer-ons and pull-offs. If you are getting the hang of the melody and you can absolutely just take ideas from this arrangement and move stuff around but if you are using hammer-ons and pull-offs you will want them to be precisely timed. Most people are going to call this tune in A so this arrangement should be played with a capo on the 2nd fret.
